About Me.

Real-world general contracting experience combined with specialized in-house capability.

My Story

Built on the jobsite. Sharpened by systems.

Jonas Moros didn't set out to become a general contractor — he grew up as one. Raised in Tampa, Florida, the son of a military family with an engineer father from Venezuela, Jonas spent his early years working alongside stonemasons and concrete crews, learning residential foundation work from the ground up, literally. That early hands-on experience — mixing, forming, and pouring concrete — became the foundation (in more ways than one) for everything that followed.

Jonas moved to Dallas to attend Southern Methodist University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Computer Science, followed by a master's with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence. Even as a graduate student, though, he kept one foot on the jobsite — picking concrete work back up, then expanding into general contracting and structural steel, a trade he'd been drawn to since he was young. Over time, that combination sharpened into a specialty: concrete and steel, the two trades he considers his strongest.

It was through SMU that Jonas began building the relationships that would shape his career — working with private individuals on industrial and commercial developments across the Dallas area. Along the way, he found a way to bring his two worlds together: applying his computer science and AI background to build a streamlined system for project management, scheduling, and coordination. The result is a level of efficiency that lets him operate, by his own estimate, with the output of a team ten times his size.

JEM Builders reflects that approach. It's a hands-on, boutique operation — not a large-scale general contracting firm, but one with the manpower and systems in place to take on projects from small scale up to developments over 100,000 square feet, with consulting experience on projects well beyond that. For Jonas, that's the point: fewer layers, more direct involvement, and a builder's understanding of the work at every stage — from the first pour to the final beam.
